News from the Crow-Dome

Afternoon esteemed Crows,

So results haven't gone our way yet, but keep the faith and they will come. A new tactic is to employed this weekend in an attempt to begin our glory trail.
Personal training? No. Sports Psyhchology? No. Reversing the batting order? No (but worth a try, just ask Matthew Graham). What then I hear......well stuffing your face with greasy food and carbonated drinks the night before the game.
Sadly not a team trip to USA Chicken & Pizza (we'll leave that to Wingnut). Instead, an early evening meal in Pizza Palazzo is proposed (thus giving those consicouse about their physique - Hooton? - the option of some pasta Carbs, and those who you can hear scraping the barrel for success - Graham? - the option to exercie the Andy Fordham pre-match routine). Afterwards, drinking in a handful of Roy's pubs is encouraged. And before you ask, Seabrook, yes we can go to Barracuda if you want!

Is this fine by all interested?

Let me know asap what sort of times you are free from and I will find a common ground, book a table, and enquire about some group deals/discounts.

Thanks in advance

Sladez

To all Crows,

We have an extremely important new feature on the website that should prove very beneficial to the club and all of its members. We have a large amount of adverts from a vast array of companies in a new section called the Crowdome Marketplace (www.roystoncricketclub.co.uk/Advertising.html), which can be found on the homepage and on the homepage menu. By clicking on these adverts (including Amazon, itunes, Dell and many many more) through our site the club will receive a certain percentage of sales (for example, Thorntons give us 10% and Amazon 5-10%) and it is as simple as that. We are obviously not asking you to increase your online spending, but if you are going to purchase something across the internet it would be great if you could do it through our site.
If you cannot find the advert you are looking for please use the Royston cricket club personalised Google on the homepage to search for your company or product and if you click on a sponsored link and purchase something we will again receive funds, this time from Google.

We have an exciting deal that is being proposed with Tesco.com so please keep an eye out for that. Please also forward this message to friends and relatives so that we can try and make our site a stop for online shopping.

**Also if anyone is interested in the Royston Leisure Centre Gym proposal please contact me or Chris Hootton urgently, we only need a couple more people to make this viable but are having to impose a deadline of this Friday**

Your a crow so please support your club, if you have any queries about this at all please don't hesitate to e-mail me

Thanks for your time,

Matt Graham

Guys,

Apologies for mailing everyone, but in view of the amount of telephone calls made by Dave Isherwood and myself over the last week, I though best to use email. Unfortunately, there is only one game this weekend (a first team game), therefore I details those selected below. Apologies for those who are not in the 11 this week. I would have liked to give everyone a call, but it is not practical - and you have my apologies for this.

To advise players in the forthcoming weeks, selection preferences will be given to those players who respond to selection requests on a timely basis, and there may often need to be selection on a first come first serve basis. Any problems, please let me know;

Selection for 2nd June is;

Craig Holson (capt.)
Richard Temple
Paul Miller
Matt Gillham
Martin Leary
Naveed Ahmed
Simon Seabrook
Chris Hooten
Ken Graham
Matt Graham
Ben Warren

Once again, apologies to those players who are not involved this week. 2 games are scheduled for the 9th June, (as well as each Saturday for the rest of the month) so please let either myself or Dave Isherwood know of your availability, as this will greatly increase your likelihood of selection.

Many thanks,

Craig Holson

Outdoor Nets, May 10th onwards

Morning all, just a reminder that indoor cricket nets have now finished.

We start outdoor nets this thursday, May 10th at Meridian School, Royston from 6-8pm. If you've not been before then the cricket nets are very near to the tennis courts. The school is right at the very end of Garden Walk and it is usually possible to park in the school car park, from where the nets and tennis courts are visible.

The nets are to be held every 2 weeks - in the meantime we may also have some fielding or net sessions at Therfield itself on those free thursdays when there are also no Youth games being held at Therfield. More info next week.

Rich.

Royston CC's Colts Open Day - 28th April.

Morning all, hope everyone's pre-season training regimes are going well.

On Saturday 28th April, we will be hosting a Royston CC Colts Open Day, at the ground at Therfield, starting 10am.

This is a big day for the club in the cricket calendar - there will be lots going on during the day, and it is expected that a large number of new potential young players, as well as parents alike, will be in attendance.

A good performance from us from an organisational point of view really sets the season off well and shows us to be a well organised and professional club where parents know they can leave their kids in safety, the parents feel welcomed and enjoy supporting the various teams and that the kids themselves really enjoy their cricket.

To make the event a success, though, we really need some help - umpiring, scoring, running the BBQ, even just welcoming players and parents to the club or helping set up the various events that are going on.

Could I ask you all to see whether you could spare a few hours that day in order to help with the organisation of this day.

I've copied in Russell Bacon on the email - if you are able to help, please contact Russell directly.

We've had some excellent help with our pre-season activities so far - Groundforce day, the Royston Sports Fayre and attendance at the first adult nets session all exceeded expectations. Let's help to continue our successes so far by making this a great showpiece event.

Note that the date is a week prior to the commencement of the 1st and 2nd team league fixtures so there are no adult games that day.

Richard.

GROUNDFORCE/SPORTS FAYRE Feedback

Guys,

Many thanks for everyone's help over the weekend at these 2 events.

Many much needed jobs completed on the Saturday, and an exceptionally successful Sports Fayre day. Thanks for all those who either attended or helped organise this.

 GROUNDFORCE DAY 13th/14th April

Good Afternoon All,

On the 14th & 15th April, Royston Cricket Club is holding its GroundForce day (as sponsored by Nat West) at Therfield.

These days are assigned for Cricket Clubs to undertake work on their grounds and pavilions, that, due to lethargy, never get done.

There are many jobs that need to be completed before the year starts, and it is imperative that as many people can attend - many hands make light work. As a club, we really need to do this, and do it together.

We are looking for all those able bodied people (tradesmen in particular), but those that can hold a paint brush, use a broom, scrub a tile, etc will be invaluable for the cause.

Please can people therefore let me know which day they are available to help out, and what jobs they would be best suited to, i.e. general, carpentry, cleaning etc.

We will start the day at 10.30, and cold drinks will be provided!! Please wear those clothes that you do not mind getting to dirt, or splattered with paint!!!

Please respond as early as you can, so that jobs can be assigned at an early stage, so that the day can run smoothly. These days can be great fun, weather permitting.

If there are any improvements / jobs within the Ground that people feel need to be undertaken, please let me know as soon as possible, so that these can be included on the list. This is our chance as a club to make the improvements that we want that will increase everyone's enjoyment on match day. Please provide the club with your support, if only for a few hours - it could make all the difference.

Many thanks in advance for your help.

Regards,

Craig Holson
